They Teach Us to Sing but There Are no Songs About Us

🇮🇹In Uganda le persone che vivono con una disabilità psicosociale o intellettuale sono considerate un peso per la società e lo stigma è alimentato dalla convinzione culturale che siano maledette. Questo è un progetto, tutt’ora in corso, che analizza i sistemi e gli approcci in essere o del tutto mancanti per far fronte alle minacce, tra cui costrizione, violenza sessuale ed eutanasia perpetrate contro coloro che vivono con problemi psicosociali o disabilità mentale nel Paese.

🇬🇧In Uganda people living with a psychosocial or intellectual disability are considered a burden on society and stigma is fuelled by a cultural belief that these people are cursed. This is an ongoing project that examines the systems, or lack of, in place to contend with the threats – including restraint, sexual assault and mercy killings – to those living with psychosocial or intellectual disability in the country.
